Every other Friday Howard Thompson dj's the PURE show on PKN. This week he played ROADBLOCK OF SOUND (title?) from the recently re-issued MX debut album HARD ATTACK.
R was riding his bike, listening, and ACC was on the hb listening. We each had a (gulp) moment hearing the song, what can i tell u. It was intense for both of us and i couldnt help but wonder how HT was feeling too. 
Earlier in the show HT played DOWN by yours truly. If there's anything better than listening to Howard's PURE show, it's hearing yourself being played on the show.  The song b4 DOWN was
This Corrosion by the SOM, and i liked the way mines sounded following that one. Gosh taking drugs and going to Sisters shows used2b so much fun.
At a party around that time, HT told me  "Ange, make sure there's lots of vodka and cranberry.  That's Andrew's tipple."

Listening to the PURE show on WPKN right now and just heard AFTERBIRTH/AFTERMATH, one of the songs on the recent reissue of MX-80's remastered Hard Attack LP. When the song finished the dj said "Wow! That's what happens when a force of nature meets an immovable object" and referred to Bruce as "a guitar monster".  "Hell of yes",  i yelled back.
Bruce is SUCH the man. Even tho the songs on Hard Attack were recorded 36 years ago Bruce's playing from back then sounds fully-formed.  Many pedals and guitars have come and gone, but still, it's always him, he never sounds dated and u could never mistake him for anyone else. Wish i could link u to a sample but there dont appear 2b any. LOVE U BRUISER!
Superior Viaduct, the label behind the reissue, will also reissue Craig Leon's Nommos LP, which is a component in a crazy connection... Angel CC was the covergirl on 1977's Hard Attack,  Craig was the producer of ACC's White Courtesy Telephone, and Howard Thompson, who signed MX to Island records, and ACC to Almo Sounds,  is the WPKN dj.
So the years spin by.

Here's me with MX80 bassist extraordinaire Dale Sophiea. I took my first trippy with Dale waaaaay back when, and became convinced that night that he was thinking about strangling me with a scarf that was on my sofa.  Paralyzed with paranoia, i was too afraid to say anything but i must have had a weird look on my face or something because he kept saying "Is everything alright?"
In my altered state his question sounded sinister and mocking.  He'd brought over Surrealistic Pillow and that didnt help matters any;the sound of Jorma's guitar sounded just awful. (Still does. -Ed.)
Then Dale wanted to go swimming. I lived in a semi-posh apartment complex at the time, it had a really nice pool and this sounds terrible i know, but i was embarrassed that one of the residents would see me with a long-haired freak.

Back in Bloomington, Bruce "The Bruiser" Anderson was the ladies' haircutter of choice. He and I thought it was so funny that hardly anyone, no matter how cool they were,  liked this haircut. I remember somebody saying with horror "How could u let him do that to you?"  I loved it and im glad i stumbled across this picture.
Caroline Peyton would get topless for her haircuts.  There'd be other ppl hanging out, milling around during the cut, it was fine with her but i was way too shy to do that.  I also never went skinny-dipping at the quarries like everyone else did.  Well, i tried it once but was uncomfortable so i didnt do it again.
