Almost finished with cover of XTAL's 'Happy Americans'. (turn that shit down if u@work.) It'd be tough to top their version but it's been fun trying.
There was a funny moment in the studio when R was doing his background vocals and the way he was singing i just assumed that he couldnt hear himself in his headphones. So i axed him, "Sweetheart, can u hear yourself?" And R cracked up laughing and said "What do u mean? Like, what'd I do with the money?" Ha ha. It's an old joke...what did u do with the money that you were SUPPOSED to be spending on singing lessons. Sorry, explaining it took all the life out of it (makes sound of deflating balloon).
I hope this isnt old news 2u already.

This is an astounding painting. It has so much light coming out of it, like it's plugged in. I saw it today at the de Young with my highly entertaining friend Linda.
The painting might look schlocky in the picture here, what with the rainbow and all, but it's anything but. It's just spectacular.

Hello. Workin' my way up to an album's worth of X-TAL covers. HAPPY AMERICANS is next, after having finished ENCORE and YOUR FRAGILE MIND. These songs r from the brilliant songwriter J NEO MARVIN. (Couldnt find a pic of him online, in case u were wondering about the pix here.) He's just the best. I was at so many XTAL shows in San Francisco and also went on the road with them to a Sacramento show. Or was it Cleveland? I even auditioned for XTAL on bass once, after they had lost their bass player and needed one in a hurry. After playing with them on one song, Mick the drummer says to me, "We were actually looking for someone who could play more than one string." Well fine! It's true i only played one string on the bass, the thickest one,(shut up Ed.) but i didnt see that as a drawback.
There's another song of theirs i always wanted to cover called ANOTHER OLD COLONIAL COMES WITH A HARD LUCK STORY, mostly so i can say the line "You're goddammed lucky u got your ignorant white ass out in time." At the shows, the crowd would yell that line when it came up...we were all just waiting for that moment to arrive.
So yeah, i'm pretty excited about doing these songs.  Bang your head! (volume check if u@work).

And speaking of sox, R had a dream that he was out with HT and HT bought R a lap dance but R kept getting distracted by some mini-suitcases on wheels, like little carts, that the other dancers were wheeling around the place. The carts contained the girls' stage clothes.
