blurry/not blurry
Nothing about Mother's Day here. Well, one thing: "Mother's half a word." Someone said that to me when i was quite young, i didnt get it for years. I was so square as a kid. And a tattletale. What a wicked combination. I shoulda been a cop.

i dont know...just where i'm going
Gots me a brand new main man, stormchaser Howie Bluestein. He spends alot of time on the road, hoping for a storm to turn into a tornado. He's tracking the storm with all this tech gear, but even so, sometimes he ends up driving around somewhat aimlessly.
So what's he doing here at NON TOUR DIARY? Because while he's driving around looking for tornadoes, he does a feeble and totally endearing Lou Reed impression, reciting (u cant really call it "singing") these lyrics:
"I dont know
Just where I'm going
But I'm gonna try for the kingdom, if i can
'Cause it makes me feel like I'm a man"
Gosh, I coulda cried with both my eyes. I love u Howie Bluestein.

r.i.p. vidal sassoon
ACC sported one of the first Sassoon cuts done stateside. After the cut I went around the corner to a Paraphernalia shop and bought a paper dress. As i was trying it on in the dressing room a photographer laid down on the floor on his back and held his camera underneath the half-door to take some shots of me. Hey, it was the 60s, it didnt seem like a big deal at all, it was kinda cool. Here's a paper dress for Pinky.
U did good, Vidal.

gaultier at the de young
There is so much one could say about the Gaultier exhibit but i wouldnt even know where 2 begin. The hi-tech execution of the concept is pretty much mind-blowing. If u r thinking of going, please dont read or look at anything online ahead of time, just go and be surprised and delighted. Mega-surprised and hugely delighted.
The show has different aspects/layers, for instance u can sit down and watch a Catherine Deneuve movie on a screen almost as big as in a movie theater. (Gaultier did her clothing).
Usually these fashion exhibits r attended by mostly women and gay men. This one had an audience of everyone--gay/straight, men/women, old/young. And every single person was interested and engaged. Fact is, u dont really have to be interested in fashion at all to enjoy the show. I hope u get to go. It's a whole 'nother world.

parlor or pyre?
Listening to Al Green sing Light My Fire today, i thought sure i heard him say "and our love become a funeral parlor" rather than "funeral pyre". I liked the surprise of hearing "parlor," it really caught me off guard. With vinyl u could lift up the needle and play the section over and over until you were certain that you were hearing things correctly. No can do with iTunes.

well hung
I'm not going on the road but a photo i took is. Here it is, on its way to a gallery, leaning against a painting (also in the show) by Stuart Sutcliffe. The show is titled Open for the Stones Vol. 2;the curator correlates my photo to this.

on the corner
Anza Street at 46th Avenue, my former 'hood.
Time saving tip: Dont read the Wrecking Crew book by Kent Hartman. Sorry 2 say how smelly it is. Here's an example: "A couple of months after Glen Campbell and his uncle Boo made their exhilarating getaway in search of musical fame and fortune across the far reaches of the Continental divide..." Cmon now, that just stinks. And that's just one half of one sentence. Instead, check out HAL BLAINE & THE WRECKING CREW by Hal hisself. Once u start reading, u wont want to stop.

Stopped at Baker Beach on my way to the Last Straw where I sell my Handmade on a Houseboat crochet items. The waves crash hard at Baker Beach, so there's a cool sound component going on, plus there's a great view of the Golden Gate Bridge in the distance.

vilchers for Bruiser
When Bruce Anderson was a smallfry, he loved vultures. He would torment his mother, screaming "I wanna see the vilchers. Vilchers! I want vilchers!" Finally his family figured out what he was saying. A few years ago Bruce had me looking for vulture salt& pepper shakers but i have a feeling that could have been his idea of a practical joke. That Bruiser is a real prankster alright. Watched a film of Bruce back-in-the day, he looked alot like this. I'd freak out or die if i did drugs 2day.

hotel hijinks: ht and acc in L.A.
Woo hoo just found a buncha pix from a SUICIDE show in L.A. when they opened for the Cars at the Amphitheater. ACC tried to keep up with the big boys that night and boy was it embarrassing to have to throw up out the window of a moving limousine with Martin and Alan and HT and Marty Thau in the car with me.
I think Dean Wareham had to throw up out the window of a moving tour bus once, but i believe his was drug-induced. I think Britta said something funny to Dean like, "Yeah, now were getting somewhere", or something like that.
And speaking of Dean Wareham, ACC had a dream last nite that Dean was standing in a park phoning in his vocals for Slide and asked ACC to do the back-ups. So we both stood there in a lush and green park, recording our vocals into the phone. Oh hells yes. No Dubonnet on ice but it was still, u know, paradise. No tour or shows or anything...2busy re-living the old days.

huffer house
NON TOUR DIARY went to a birthday party2day. Overheard: "Ya ready to party til u puke?"
"Uh, what?"
"Oh. Ya ready to party?"
ACC thought R was looking very cute at the party, which was held in a driveway. Bruce Anderson showed up and pitched 2 movie/tv ideas to A and R. Both ideas were highly developed and it was remarkable that Bruce doesnt write the plots/scripts down or take notes or anything but yet remembers every detail and character's name. I liked the name "Glender." Glender's a huffer and lives in a drug house with meth addicts and other huffers. There r 3 floors in the house (Huffer House). The worst among them live on the first floor, the 2nd floor people r still fucked up but not as bad as the people on the 1st floor, and the 3rd floor is for the women and children. More on Bruce's other idea later.

ask me about Bar Stool Walker
I absolutely totes LOVE Bar Stool Walker. Bruce's guitar work is so emotional as it swoops and swerves and climbs and dives all over Rich's brilliant catchy arrangements. I'd classify all 11 of these songs as Hard To Resist. Some of the songs have movies to go with them, u can find them here at MXRich's channel. john baldessari? nope, angel corpus christi
Kevin Teare invited ACC to submit a photo to be included in the OPEN FOR THE STONES show.
Clicked around just now trying to find a good graphic 4 the traveling exhibit, found OPEN SURGERY FOR KIDNEY STONES instead. That's not gonna work.
Anyway, the photo above, RICHREDLIPS is the photo Kevin chose. So i went to the Copper Door to have it float-mounted as Kebn requested.
The Copper Door is a great shop and Alan Pugh, the proprietor, is so elegant. Handsome too(like this)! I can imagine him walking down the streets of his hometown Liverpool in the swingin' 60s looking fabulous.
Another customer came in and saw the photo on the counter and said "John Baldesarri." Since i really like Baldessari i took his remark as a compliment.

s.o.b.*
...stands4 "sandy Ocean Beach." Click the pic to get a closer look at the stairwell buried in sand. On the other side of the sea-wall, the height is about 12 ft. from the top of the wall to the beach floor. So that's how deep the sand is at the stairwell and at the sea-wall because it's been so windy. Fascinating, am i right?

on the road with the ramones
Such a pleasure reading this one after reading Johnny "I'm a Turd" Ramones' book. I'm hatin' on Johnny even more as i read Monte's book. Thanks to Peggi Fournier for the heads-up on this sad, funny entertaining book.
Lots of great pix, and I got a big kick out of seeing a picture of Joey wearing a NEXT BIG THING t-shirt. Holla to our NBT Chief! Hey! Just found this shot of ACC in HER shirt!
Here's an early issue of NBT, back in the pre-internets days. It would arrive in the mail from Scotland in a handmade envelope, addressed by hand.
Those were the days my friend we thought they'd never end.

Whooda thought back in the 80s that in 2012 u could have a lil mini Keith Haring manicure? That shits is crazy. Now u can get all kinds of Haring stuff, shoes, (too bad i dont still have my Radiant Baby Tshirt. Sure i could buy one now but that would be cheating.) And Banksy cool thing i just found.
And of course, u can always put a bird on it.
And speaking of crazy shits, the recently-added link on my list (after Tarred and Branded), is "Taolinisgoingdownbutiremain". Kinda hard2read all that single-space, but still.

my sto'
BFF Rich made a music store at my Facebook page. Pretty cool. Thanks R!
I like the selections on the artist mix page. I guess if i did Alice Cooper's I'M 18 live these days it would be pretty funny or weird or something, now that i'm 75. Maybe it was even weird to have performed it live when i wasnt AS old as i am now, but it never felt that way to me, i just liked singing the song. (Non-Tour Diary readers can catch ACC live the next time hell freezes over. -Ed.)
Ok y'all, get shoppin'.

gabba gabba nay
Jeez i didnt know that Johnny was such a psychopath. What an unlikeable character. At least that's the way he comes across in his autobiography, a psychopathic homophobic tightwad. If i didnt like the Ramones so much i wouldnt even finish the book. Tommy needs to write one now.
