Being in the Mendocino forest for the past few days seeped into my dreams last night. In "real" life ACC has a dental issue that needs to be addressed, and in last night's dream the mirror revealed that this problem tooth was covered with unattractive brown spongy bits, segments like, that could be peeled off. Ugh.
And speaking of mirrors, what's that Philip Roth quote?  One of his characters has the thought that "the end of his life was a thing as near to him as the mirror in which he was shaving."  Ugh again.

Back from the Mendocino woods. This shot looks like it was taken at night but that's a beam of sunlight hitting the road marker.
On a food-run to The Good Life Bakery in town (across the street from the bank that's in a church) R picked up a copy of the local NEW SETTLER INTERVIEW magazine for me.   If i was any kind of man at all, i would be up in a tree somewhere co-protesting.

Just started this audiobook, it is so entertaining.  All these names from the past, disc jockeys, promoters, managers, everybody who was in the scene back then, musicians. At the time everyone took it 4 granted, we were just there, driving around Detroit and Ann Arbor, dancing in the strobelights,  but these days it's fully acknowledged what a truly explosive influential thing it all was.
I love hearing the names of the venues, i was there at all of them. At the Grande one night, admission $2!, Santana came on stage. My whatever had fully kicked in and I was ready for some big sounds, big action. I was used to being transported by The 5,  having my head blown off by the Stooges. Ugh, I couldnt stand the sound of Santana and so spent their set in the bathroom.
One interesting tidbit among the many:  the Grande sounded so good because there was horsehair in the plaster.  Who knew?

Back from Mendocino where it was Crushingly Quiet at the NON TOUR staff's accommodations in a wee clearing in a pygmy forest. No other houses, people, cars around. U realize u cant remember when u've been in a sound environment quite like it. U 4get what it's like, what it feels like. No noise... airplanes, sirens, helicopters, motorcycles, car alarms, beepbeepbeep of backing-up vehicles, construction, all replaced with...nothing. And it wasnt windy so no sound of wind in the trees. #Stillness.
